LONDON – Western Power Distribution (WPD), a UK distribution network operator that delivers electricity to 7.9 million customers across the Midlands, South West England, and Wales, has selected ev.energy as a flexibility service provider (FSP) as part of its IntraFlex project.
ev.energy will participate in a dynamic flexibility marketplace operated by NODES, the independent marketplace for trading distributed flexibility across Europe. ev.energy’s platform will optimise EV charging times and loads in WPD’s territory to deliver flexibility services and manage grid congestion.
William Goldsmith, ev.energy’s Commercial & Projects Director, said: “With over 25 MW of EV load on our platform, ev.energy is in an excellent position to deliver flexibility services to the UK’s power grid. As the UK’s power is increasingly generated by renewables, it will become important to balance flexible EV demand with renewable supply, both to balance the grid and to keep costs low for our end-users. We look forward to working with WPD and NODES to provide flexibility services through our intelligent smart charging platform.”
