El Paso Electric and ev.energy Expand Managed EV Charging Program to Texas

EL PASO, Texas, March 20, 2025 – El Paso Electric (EPE) and ev.energy, the leading provider of managed electric vehicle (EV) charging solutions, have announced the launch of the EV Smart Rewards TX program, a pioneering initiative for EPE’s customers in Texas. This follows the successful sister program launch in New Mexico last year and continues the commitment to optimizing home EV charging for a more efficient and sustainable grid.

EV Smart Rewards TX is designed to shift home EV charging to off-peak hours, low-carbon hours, or other periods when the electric grid has plenty of available capacity. The program encourages EV owners to charge when electricity demand is lower, particularly avoiding the 12 PM to 6 PM peak window in summer months. Drivers simply connect their vehicle, set their preferred “Ready-By Time” and “Charge Limit,” and ev.energy’s advanced platform optimizes their charging automatically. Participants will also receive notifications about Low Carbon and Demand Response events, which allow them to charge when renewable energy is abundant or reduce charging during peak demand periods.

Participants in the EV Smart Rewards TX program can benefit from substantial financial incentives, including a $125 enrollment incentive, up to $5 per month for participating in Low Carbon Events and Demand Response events, and a $50 annual incentive for maintaining managed charging at least 80% of the time. Incentives are disbursed via PayPal or Venmo, making it easy for customers to earn rewards while charging smarter.

The EV Smart Rewards TX program aims to:

• Support Clean Energy – Charging is scheduled when renewable or nuclear energy is most available, enabling a greener, more sustainable charging experience.
• Advance Energy Innovation – As part of EPE’s managed EV charging efforts, the program drives innovation in grid management and smart energy solutions.
